Section: 1. WHAT IS THE SCORECARD APPLICATION?
Subsection: 1.2 A One Minute Tutorial
Topic: Quick Start for Scorecard Readers

Once the Administrator has installed the Scorecard on your Notes server, you can start using the application in nine easy steps. This brief tutorial is primarily for Scorecard Readers.

1. From within Microsoft Windows, open the Notes application by double-clicking on the Notes icon.

2. To add the Scorecard application to your Notes desktop, select the main menu File Open Database command. Select the server where the Administrator installed the Scorecard database, and then select Open. A list of databases will be displayed in the lower box. Select the Scorecard and then select Add Icon. The Scorecard icon is then added to your desktop. Select Done to complete the command. Note: You only need to do this step once.
3. Double-click on the Scorecard icon to open the database. A welcome screen is displayed the first time you do this. You have an option to display the help screens, such as this one, by pressing the Help Button or press Escape or double-right-click to view the database.

4. The default database view is the Scorecard By Regions view. Views contain summary information on teh documents in the Notes database. Note that the view name is displayed on the blue program bar at the top of your screen. Most views of the database show the region name, effective date and selected data items. To display a Scorecard, select a region entry and double-click on it. The Scorecard appears!

5. You can navigate down the page to review selected items. Next to each value is a trend icon indicating an up, down, even, or N/A trend (Note the legend at the bottom of the Scorecard.) Next to each trend indicator is a small document icon, called a doclink Database 'LatAm Scorecard (005)', View '5. Help\1. Table of Contents'. Double-clicking on the doclink displays the graph of historical values for that data item. If no doclink is shown, a graph is not available for that item. This feature provides the "drill-down" capabilities of the Scorecard, where supporting information is just a mouse click or two away!

6. At the top of the graph page is another doclink. Double-clicking on it displays the spreadsheet of historical information supporting all graphs and Scorecard values. You can navigate up or down, and left or right to view the entire spreadsheet report. Note: This screen is a picture of the Excel spreadsheet DataHistory page. It cannot be modified, nor can the Excel formulas be displayed. Use Excel to modify the underlying information. Press Escape or double-right-click to move back to the graph. Repeat this step to move back to the Scorecard.

7. Navigate to the bottom of the Scorecard. Here you will notice a final doclink for viewing the spreadsheet screen without having to go via a graph screen. Press Escape or double-right-click to leave the Scorecard screen and go back to the Scorecard By Region view.

8. To display other views of Scorecard information, select the Notes main menu View command. Notice that there are five categories of views. The most commonly used views are the Scorecard views. Select Scorecards or press 1 to see the list of views in this category. Select By Date or press 2 to see the view by date. Follow the same procedure to see other views. Note: The Lookup views are for the Notes programs, and the Admin views are for the Scorecard Administrator. The Help view displays the User Guide Table of Contents.

9. Finally press Escape or double-right-click to exit the Scorecard database and return to your Notes desktop. Congratulations, you have now mastered the Scorecard database!
