Letters to a Young Manager

Reusing airplane wheels, #242
LTYM >

Please note that this letter is in-process; the following are my notes

Dear Adam,
***
My father story about reusing airplane parts in new plan designs: less inventory (especially on the carriers), leverages expertise in maintenance crew, and we already know it works.

And you don't want to have a whole set of an inventory of parts that's unique to every plane. I want to have what you can share, so we're using the same tire on the plane, ah, we can reuse that tire on five planes. So that's just more efficient, more productive. And there's less weight, less things you have to store on the ship. The same thing applies to IT systems.
