At Save the Children, the field workers were using Skype while we in HQ were banning it for security reasons, like any Skype account being used as a server or relay point. The reasons those in the Field used Skype was first, to communicate with other agency workers who were part of the program grant (sub-grantees) and second, for those deployed to remote areas, to keep in touch with their families. After a year with no issues experienced, we decided to support Skype and include it in our laptop builds. Listening to the Field and following their example was the principle we learned. |
